Greater Brockton, Greater Newburyport and Northern Berkshire are the three communities that have been selected for the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative (MAeHC) first demonstration project testing community-wide implementation of electronic health records (EHRs) in Massachusetts.
The three pilot communities were selected from a group of 35 outstanding applicants to embark on a 24-month to 36-month project to study and demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of implementing electronic health records in community settings. The goals are to improve the quality, safety and cost-effectiveness of care.
The three selected communities have demonstrated leadership, energy and commitment to put
these technologies to test and give us practical guidance about how to overcome the major
barriers that have prevented universal adoption up until now. These communities also have
a high capture of medical encounters, a wide array of ancillary providers, diversity of
patients, practices, locations and size and will provide a cross section of models to
enable state-wide expansion.
Below is the Request for Applications that the communities completed for their selection into the MAeHC Pilot Program and the corresponding Frequently Asked Questions and the responses.
