The Greater Brockton eCare Alliance                                          

The Greater Brockton eCare Alliance (GBeCA) is comprised of Brockton Hospital, Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, Bridgewater Goddard Park Medical Associates, Brockton Physician Hospital Organization, Inc., Caritas Good Samaritan IPA, Inc., and Brockton Neighborhood Health Center. The Alliance includes both of the community’s acute care hospitals who together constitute 486 beds.

The community served by the Alliance encompasses the City of Brockton and nearly 20 surrounding towns that are homes to 350,000 residents. The Alliance includes nearly 400 physicians, representing 85% of the PCP’s in the community and 75% of the specialists in the community. These physicians provide more than an estimate one million patient encounters annually.

 

Here is a brief profile of each entity within the Alliance:

Brockton Hospital is a private, not-for-profit community teaching hospital with 250 beds providing a comprehensive range of services including radiation oncology and cardiac catheterization. BH provided $24.6 million in free care in FY ’04 making it the third largest recipient of free care funds in the Commonwealth. BH has an academic and clinical affiliation with New England Medical Center.

                       

                                                Brockton Hospital

Brockton Physician Hospital Organization, Inc., is a non-profit corporation that includes Brockton Hospital, the Hospital’s owned primary care physician group ( Primary Care Affiliates) and OB/GYN Group ( Women’s Health Affiliates), and a large number of independent physician groups and certain professional ancillary provider entities totaling 167 physicians( 22 primary care and 145 specialists).

                                             

Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center (CGSMC) is a full service, acute care, Catholic hospital with 236 beds. CGSMC is a member of the Caritas Christi Health Care System and is a teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine.

Caritas Good Samaritan IPA, Inc. (CGSIPA), represents 200 physicians (50 primary care and 150 specialists) including the hospital’s wholly owned physician company, which employs 40 physicians. The IPA manages more than fifty area physician practices that provide primary care, specialty and diagnostic services.

Bridgewater Goddard Park Medical Associates (BGPMA) is one of the largest independent physician owned, multi-specialty, and multi-site group practices south of Boston and is clinically affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital; 70 physician(40 primary care and 30 specialists) comprise the practice. BGPMA physicians are onstaff at both local acute care hospitals.

          

Bridgewater Goddard Park Medical Associates, Inc.
               

Brockton Neighborhood Health Center (BNHC) is a non-profit, multicultural, multi-site community health center employing 10 physicians to provide services to low-income populations. Approximately 82% of its patients are minority; 54% are indigent uninsured; 30% are insured through MassHealth; 4% through Medicare. The health center handles more than 50,000 patient visits annually.
